This activity will go in depth on record-keeping requirements and prescribing limitations regarding controlled substances. Additionally, it will discuss the possible signs of controlled substance diversion.

Objectives: Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

• Review and understand record keeping requirements and prescribing limitations for controlled substances in South Carolina
• Discuss and identify possible signs of controlled substance diversion
• Summarize the purpose and use of SCRIPTS, South Carolina’s prescription monitoring program
• Explain when a review of SCRIPTS is required prior to prescribing
• Review interpretation of SCRIPTS data and all relevant clinical decision support making tools within a patient report
• Review and understand reports available specific to prescribers
