The Legislative and Evidence Landscape of Independent Practice

At the end of this session, attendees should be able to:

• Describe the current legislative status and key provisions of S.44/S.45 and compare South Carolina’s efforts with national scope-of-practice trends.
• Identify and explain the major stakeholders and drivers influencing independent practice legislation in South Carolina, including how advocacy and funding efforts shape policy direction.
• Analyze state-level approaches to independent practice authority and evaluate the strength and limitations of evidence used to support policy arguments related to patient outcomes, safety, and access to care.
