Benefits
Advocacy

The SCMA is the voice for South Carolina physicians. Protecting your profession and your patients requires advocacy that centers on laws that affect physicians. The SCMA understands how changes that seem small to others can change your profession and your practice. The SCMA provides a constant presence at the State House with our experienced lobby team, answering questions and providing needed context.

Education

The SCMA offers our membership timely and resourceful educational sessions. SCMA members can receive a minimum of 14.5 hours of CME online courses at no cost. CME’s are always available 24/7 and as a member, you can take classes on your own schedule whenever you want and wherever you are.

Communication

SCMA’s monthly e-newsletter, SCMedNews, social media outlets, and more have one objective: to keep South Carolina physicians informed of the changes in healthcare that affect your practice. SCMA members are also provided opportunities to receive other e-publications specific to legislation and CMEs.

Practice Resources

SCMA subsidiary organizations offer products and services to assist and help meet the needs of South Carolina physicians including financial and insurance resources, practice management solutions, and our very own Members’ Insurance Trust (MIT) health insurance plan.

Enhancing Professional Satisfaction

The SCMA provides a way for physicians to discuss current practice issues and connect with other physicians. Physician members have the opportunity to help draft policy, shape SCMA legislative agendas, participate in the legislative Doctor of the Day Program, take relevant CMEs, receive updates on statewide regulatory changes facing those in practice, and attend association and county chapter events.

Covid-19 Resources

The SCMA is here for you and has worked to help South Carolina physicians with all sorts of issues.   Below we have captured some of the SCMA's work over the past two months so that you can see the SCMA's action at work.  And, the SCMA appreciates the physician support in each of these endeavors - the organization cannot do it without your support, your input, and your willingness to assist us by being the physician voice. Many of you have joined late night phone calls, responded to early emails, or simply answered questions on issues we are tackling.  To this we simply say thank you.  Together we have done a lot.
