State House News - April 15
Activities at the State House have geared back up after furlough, especially in the medical arena. Last week, an advocacy day was held in the State House in recognition of National Health Care Decisions Day. Organizations were available in the first floor lobby to assist legislators and other stakeholders with end-of-life care planning decisions. A few bills of major importance from this past week include:
S. 672 - Medical Marijuana Bill: This bill was tabled last week by the full Senate Medical Affairs Committee. As a result, the bill failed to get out of committee and should not go forward.
S. 1035 - Telemedicine Bill: On Tuesday of next week, this bill will receive a subcommittee hearing from a 3M Subcommittee.
S.1143 - Birthing Center Bill: On Wednesday of next week, this bill will receive a hearing in a Senate Medical Affairs Subcommittee.
H.3999 - Health Care Decisions Bill: On Wednesday of next week, this bill will receive a hearing in a Senate Medical Affairs Subcommittee.
Interestingly enough, S. 1143 and H.3999 are also both on the agenda for the full Senate Medical Affairs next Thursday.
